Every year, during the third week of September, I eagerly await a special package from my maternal aunt. This package contains a unique Prasad known as “Rothh” in our Kashmiri culture, prepared specifically for a religious function called βPann.β Its significance lies not only in its taste but also in the cherished tradition of receiving it from my aunt for over three decades, regardless of where I am in the country. This year was no different, as my aunt sent it through Trackon couriers on September 22nd.
A Week of Uncertainty
Ordinarily, the courier from Jammu to my residence in Gurugram takes just a day, thanks to the efficient network of courier companies in the region. However, this time was different. A week passed, and the parcel’s whereabouts remained unknown. My anxiety grew, and I began my quest to trace the missing Prasad.
Three days ago, my aunt called to inquire if I had received the package. To my astonishment, she revealed that it had been dispatched a week ago, and yet it had not reached me. The Delivery Person’s Account
Sunil took prompt action by identifying the delivery person responsible for my parcel on that day. He contacted the delivery person, who claimed to have delivered the package and possibly left it with the guard at my society gate. However, I clarified that our association had strictly instructed the guard not to accept any couriers and to inform the intended recipients.
A Surprising Twist
The delivery person, in a surprising turn of events, suggested that he may have handed the parcel to my neighbors on the ground floor after failing to reach me by phone. This raised further questions about his actions, as he had never received any confirmation from me to deliver the parcel to a third party.
Resolution and Relief
In response to the manager’s request, the delivery person returned to my residence to confirm with my neighbor regarding the parcel’s receipt. After a brief wait, he sent a photo to the manager, revealing the parcel tucked away in the corner of a shoe cabinet outside my entrance gate. Astonishingly, the photo clearly displayed the Trackon courier label, and I couldn’t help but wonder why I had not noticed it earlier.
While I was relieved that the parcel remained intact after a week, this incident shed light on the negligence and carelessness of courier delivery personnel.
