Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, and Martin Scorsese, renowned collaborators in the film industry, have once again impressed audiences with their latest project, “Killers of The Flower Moon.” The true-crime drama, starring DiCaprio and De Niro, premiered at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival and received a raucous applause during the post-screening reception. A video shared on the festival’s YouTube channel captured the audience inside the Grande Theatre Lumiere enthusiastically applauding the movie for over seven minutes, with additional applause following Scorsese’s gratitude towards the audience. Scorsese expressed his appreciation for the Osage community and everyone involved in the film, describing the experience of making it as “very alive.”
The presence of DiCaprio, De Niro, and Lily Gladstone at the premiere garnered further excitement and applause from the audience. “Killers of The Flower Moon,” based on David Grann’s bestseller, tells the true story of the serial murder of members of the oil-wealthy Osage Nation in 1920s Oklahoma, known as the Reign of Terror. This three and a half hour film marks Scorsese’s first venture into the Western genre and premiered out of competition at Cannes. Initial reviews have been positive.
Audiences can anticipate the film’s release in theaters, with a limited release on October 6 and a wide release on October 20. Following its theatrical release, it will also be available for streaming on Apple TV+. “Killers of The Flower Moon” has already left a lasting impression on Cannes Film Festival attendees, setting high expectations for its forthcoming debut.
