Phoenix, AZ — Jamie Foxx is finally speaking out about the mysterious illness that left him comatose for nearly three weeks in April 2023. The Academy Award-winning actor recently shared his harrowing ordeal in a candid video posted on social media.

“It started on April 11 last year,” Foxx began, recalling the day that changed everything. “I had a bad headache, asked my boy for an Advil,” he continued, snapping his fingers. “I was gone for 20 days. I don’t remember anything.”

Foxx’s memory of the event is fragmented, but he recounted how his sister and daughter rushed him to a doctor in Atlanta. The first doctor dismissed his symptoms, administering a cortisone shot. However, the second doctor recognized something more serious was at play. “Something’s going on up there,” Foxx quoted the doctor, but he declined to specify further on camera.

Hospitalization and Recovery

In April 2023, Foxx was filming his upcoming Netflix movie, “Back in Action,” with Cameron Diaz in Atlanta when he experienced an undisclosed medical complication. The next day, his daughter Corrine Foxx announced on Instagram that he was already on the road to recovery. A month later, she revealed that her father had been out of the hospital for weeks and was even “playing pickleball.”

Foxx’s ordeal kept him away from the public eye for an extended period. His first appearance post-hospitalization was at the Critics Choice Association’s Celebration of Cinema & Television, where he accepted the Vanguard Award. During his emotional acceptance speech, Foxx revealed that he had been unable to walk just six months prior.

“I want to thank everybody. I’ve been through something, I’ve been through some things,” he said. “I cherish every single minute now — it’s different. I wouldn’t wish what I went through on my worst enemy because it’s tough when it’s almost over … when you see the tunnel. I saw the tunnel — I didn’t see the light,” he admitted.

Impact on Jamie Foxx’s Life

The mysterious illness has profoundly impacted Foxx’s outlook on life. The actor, known for his roles in “Ray” and “Django Unchained,” now appreciates every moment more deeply. “I cherish every single minute now — it’s different,” he emphasized. The experience was a stark reminder of life’s fragility and the importance of health and family.

Foxx’s health scare has also brought attention to the importance of seeking proper medical care and advocating for oneself. His journey from being incapacitated to standing before an audience accepting an award is a testament to his resilience and determination.

In related news, Foxx has continued to work on various projects. Chernin Entertainment is developing a boxing film titled “Tomato Can,” which Foxx’s production company, Foxxhole, will produce. Additionally, he has been involved in multiple other projects, showcasing his commitment to his craft despite the challenges he faced.

Foxx’s story is a powerful reminder of the unpredictability of life and the strength required to overcome significant health challenges. His openness about his experience offers hope and inspiration to others facing similar struggles. As he continues to recover and work on new projects, Foxx’s journey remains a beacon of resilience and gratitude.
