Yesterday, we talked mainly about that section of people who really like winter. Today we shall talk about those who like the summer more than this winter season. They say that winter is so severe that it sucks! Just enjoy the read:

Some People Like Winter and Some Don’t (Part II)

When December rolls around, the bone-chilling cold and the record-low temperature have an impact on daily life as usual. To protect themselves from the bitter cold, many put on inners and even heavier woollens. Beginning in December, Delhi’s minimum daily temperature is single digit or even below five, and it drops to its absolute lowest in January and February.

Some people don’t appreciate such a chilly temperature because it interferes with daily activities, and even the short days have a greater negative impact. I am one of those people who despises the winter months. Since we have long days and the most productivity during the summer, it is the best season.

I have also experienced Srinagar’s subzero temps, and that too while it was snowing. I’ve endured the biting cold of zero temperatures nonstop for days on end, but I didn’t enjoy it. One of the reasons for that has been my body’s indications of numerous issues, such as the URTI and throat-related issues, getting worse during the extreme cold there.

They say, “Seasons are always severely overrated.” I for sure have the following reasons for hating the Winters comprehensively: –

a) When you wake up in the morning and you know it is cold outside, you have an overwhelming feeling. So stay in bed longer than you should and hug your comforter tighter than you should.

b) You want to complain mercilessly about the length of the season. I mean, you can’t change the weather, you can just keep talking out loud about how you don’t like the cold.

c) When the weather is so cold that you cannot feel your face, you will start a panic attack because you are sure that if you do not enter the room as soon as possible, you will freeze.

d) When you have a necessary itch, you need to scratch, but countless clothes have to be removed to reach it. So, you worry about how to get to that place.

e) I feel like I have an illness that makes you want to snuggle and drink tea all day. Forget about work, friends, and family. All he cares about is staying where he is and bundling up.

f) I want to cancel almost all meetings, and appointments that require you to step out. Especially when it means going out multiple times during the day.

g) The extreme happiness you feel when you think you have somewhere to go but someone cancels the program. Now you don’t have to face the torture of winter for a while.

h) When the cold sets in, your inexhaustible feelings as a person will enter a kind of hibernation, an emotional hibernation. And “you” won’t be back until spring.

The above were the various feelings attached to my not liking winter at all. Besides this, whenever I had been out in the snow working with my colleagues in the field job, I had a very envious type of feeling since I used to get drenched with the snow, and that was to get as soon as possible into the warm hotel room and change my clothes immediately to retire into the electric blanket. This used to happen to me either in Srinagar or in Shimla, while I had to work in the field almost every day. Another thing that used to keep me from being fully satisfied was the level of work that we used to extract from those short days of winter. It used to be the minimum.

Here’s a crucial question: Why do I prefer the summer to the winter? The arguments are such that one may be persuaded on sound and real grounds with ease. These many points, when summarized, paint a clear picture of why I don’t like Winters at all: –

In the winter, we have less sunlight, which is also very weak and does not fall in straight rays. Summers, on the other hand, have longer periods of direct and strong sunlight. The sunlight makes you happy. Sunlight makes your brain produce more serotonin; a chemical that makes you feel happy. All this detail simply means that one can be happier in the summer than in the winter.

Winter is when snow and ice make driving more difficult and dangerous. The road becomes very slippery with icing and sleet, making it more difficult to walk on it.

For Students- ‘Summer vacation is longer than winter vacation’. As the school year ends, you have 2 months to relax in an environment without homework. Winter vacation does not allow you to enjoy this luxury and gives you a trivial two and a half weeks vacation.

You will get more vitamin D in the summer. Vitamin D is an important vitamin that everyone needs, mainly from sunlight. As the summer sun increases, your body will get more in the summer.

Heating wastes less water in summer. In winter, you take a lot of hot baths. Because of this, you will end up wasting more energy than in the summer.

Speaking of clothes, you spend less in summer. There is a price to wear 3 layers.

Summer is a good time for farmers. Summer is not only sunny but also rainy. Both things mean farmers can get a better harvest. This is important because these people are the ones who grow food for you.

There are more fruits in summer than in winter. Blueberries, strawberries, cherries, watermelons, and apricots are just a few examples of seasonal fruits in summer, but not in winter.

Summer is the movie season. Because of the summer vacation, everyone has a lot of time to do things. Therefore, for filmmakers and us, summer is the best time to show movies.

You can go to the beach in the summer. Or if you feel less fancy, you can swim outside. You can go to an indoor heated swimming pool, but the price will go up in winter, you know!

For sunbathing, summer is better than winter because you can spend more time outdoors. Take advantage of the hot summer to breathe fresh air, whether it’s dining outdoors, walking, or going to the beach.

As mentioned above-normally for any outdoor work, I have to get dressed up in layers to cover up my body from the piercing cold and that is an awesome process. Further going out and driving during the frostbite season always brings a lot of discomforts and a bigger challenge to brave that out. I would rather love to be in Summer-where dressing up is no challenge and comfort is the only way to live the summers our way. So, summers are always welcome no matter if the temperature exceeds my expectations even.

Finally, to conclude- “WINTER-It sucks”.
