Senator John Fetterman’s fashion choice-white Carhartt sweatshirt
Colorado Representative Lauren Boebert criticized Senator John Fetterman’s fashion choice during a Senate press conference, describing it as “unbecoming.” Fetterman appeared in a white Carhartt sweatshirt, gray workout shorts, and running shoes, while his colleagues were dressed in suits and ties. Boebert, a gun-toting conservative, expressed her disapproval on Twitter, stating that it was unacceptable for someone in a position of such importance to dress so casually. She argued that there was no excuse for such attire, particularly in a job that only a hundred people are elected to do.
Fetterman has a reputation for wearing casual clothing while on the job, a practice that he continued during his Senate campaign and even after being elected. His preference for sweats at political events led The New York Times to include him on its list of the “most stylish” people of 2022. The publication celebrated him as the politician who would bring Carhartt to the Capitol.
Fetterman, surrounded by Democratic Senators Bernie Sanders, Ed Markey, Peter Welch, and Jeff Merkley, called on President Biden to use the 14th Amendment to avoid a default on the nation’s debt and criticized Republicans for their handling of the situation.
At the time of reporting, Fetterman’s office had not responded to requests for comment from The Post.
