Chicago hit by tornado-warned storm amid severe weather
Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport was affected by the tornado, with warehouses near one of the runways sustaining damage. NBC 5 captured live footage of a tornado forming over O’Hare Airport during their coverage. The National Weather Service advised those in and around the airport to seek immediate shelter as the tornado touched down intermittently.
The storms prompted the cancellation of hundreds of flights and ground stops at Midway and O’Hare. The affected regions remained under tornado watches and warnings, with a tornado watch in effect for counties in Illinois and Indiana until 10 p.m. The storms exhibited rotation, posing a continued threat.
More than 200 Hertz customers have filed lawsuits against the company, alleging false arrests due to Hertz incorrectly labeling their rentals as stolen. These customers claim that their vehicles were returned as normal rentals.
Overall, the severe storms and tornadoes caused significant disruptions and damage in the Chicago area, impacting transportation, power supply, and public safety.
