Heavily shackled Chad Doerman, 32, stands before Clermont Judge Jason Nagel.Â
According to prosecutors, Chad Doerman, a father from Ohio, has been charged with three counts of aggravated murder after allegedly executing his three young sons in a premeditated act of murder. The incident is described as the worst crime ever seen by Clermont County chief prosecutor David Gast. Doerman reportedly confessed to the crime and appeared in court wearing a green padded vest used for preventing self-harm. The boys, aged 3, 4, and 7, were lined up by Doerman at their home and shot with a rifle. One of the boys attempted to flee but was pursued, brought back, and killed. The mother of the children was injured in the hand while trying to protect her sons.
The prosecutor expressed the unimaginable trauma and horror inflicted by Doerman, deeming it impossible to fully comprehend. Gast requested a $20 million bond, which was granted, emphasizing that Doerman was their guardian and committed the killings in cold blood. Gast claimed that Doerman not only carried out the murders but also planned them. The prosecutor highlighted the significant threat Doerman poses to the community. The incident has left the sheriff’s office, first responders, and the community deeply traumatized. Gast mentioned that the deputies tried to resuscitate the boys but were ultimately helpless. Doerman’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 26, and following that, the prosecutor intends to seek his detention without bond. The possibility of seeking the death penalty and other charges in this case is being reviewed, although no details were provided regarding Doerman’s potential involvement with other children.
