SpaceX FIRES employees who wrote letter criticizing Elon Musk’s ’embarrassing’ tweets | Daily Mail Online
The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) has accused SpaceX of illegally terminating eight employees who circulated a letter criticizing CEO Elon Musk. The complaint alleges that SpaceX violated federal labor laws protecting workers’ rights to advocate for improved working conditions. The letter, sent in June 2022, focused on Musk’s tweets, some of which were deemed sexually suggestive and inconsistent with the company’s diversity and misconduct policies. SpaceX is accused of intimidating and disparaging the involved workers, as well as threatening similar action against others.
The NLRB’s general counsel will bring the case before the board if SpaceX does not settle. A hearing is scheduled for March 5, and if found guilty, SpaceX could face reinstating employees and providing back pay. The company’s alleged “toxic culture” is further highlighted by a former employee’s statement on tolerated harassment, particularly against women.
This case adds to a series of accusations against Musk’s companies, including SpaceX, Twitter (now X), and Tesla, for violating labor and employment laws. Previous reports have detailed unreported workplace injuries at SpaceX, and the broader context suggests a pattern of disregard for employee rights.
