Amanda Knox Teams Up with Monica Lewinsky for New Hulu Series on Her Story

Amanda Knox, Monica Lewinsky team up for new Hulu series that examines Knox’s case – Boston 25…

Amanda Knox, once the focus of one of the most high-profile murder cases in the world, is now reclaiming her narrative through television. She has partnered with Monica Lewinsky to bring her story to life in a new Hulu series, The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox.

Back in 2007, Knox was a 20-year-old American exchange student in Italy when her roommate, Meredith Kercher, was tragically killed. Knox and her then-boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito, were arrested and spent years fighting wrongful convictions. After multiple trials, Italy’s highest court cleared Knox in 2015. Still, the media branded her as “Foxy Knoxy,” shaping a public image she’s been working to correct ever since.

Now, with Hulu’s eight-part series, Knox takes control of her story as an executive producer. She even co-wrote the final episode. Actress Grace Van Patten plays Knox, narrating: “Many people think they know my story, but finally it’s my turn to tell it.”

A Powerful Partnership

Knox found an unexpected ally in Monica Lewinsky, who also serves as an executive producer. Lewinsky, once vilified during the Clinton scandal in the 1990s, has since become an anti-bullying activist and producer. She says she was drawn to Knox’s story because of the deep parallels—both were young women harshly judged, publicly shamed, and scrutinized by the world.

Knox recalls first meeting Lewinsky in 2017, when she nervously prepared for her first public speech. Lewinsky comforted her, offering advice and encouragement like a “big sister.” Their shared experiences of being vilified bonded them, and now they’ve joined forces to bring Knox’s perspective to a wider audience.

Beyond the Headlines

The Hulu series not only follows Knox’s personal journey but also explores the impact on her family, Kercher’s loved ones, and Sollecito. It includes perspectives from prosecutors, investigators, and media voices that shaped the narrative.

Knox hopes the series will finally change minds about her case, especially since another man, Rudy Guede, was the only person definitively convicted of Kercher’s murder. He was released in 2021.

For Knox, this project is about more than clearing her name. “I wanted people to relate to my experience. To say, I understand,” she explains.

Life After Wrongful Conviction

Since her release, Knox has written two memoirs, appeared in a Netflix documentary, and now serves on the board of The Innocence Center, fighting for others who were wrongly imprisoned. She co-hosts true crime podcasts with her husband and is a mother of two.

In a surprising twist, Knox has also found healing through stand-up comedy and even sings in a band with other exonerees, fittingly named The Exonerees.

Her message today is one of resilience: “Whatever traumatic thing you’re experiencing, your life is not over. You can carry it with you in a way that gives you strength instead of holding you back.”

With Monica Lewinsky by her side, Amanda Knox is finally telling her story on her own terms—and hoping the world listens differently this time.
