Amazon Ends ‘Try Before You Buy’: Here’s What It Means for Shoppers

Amazon Ending ‘Try Before You Buy’ Program | Cosmico

Amazon has announced the end of its “Try Before You Buy” program, a service that launched in 2017 to allow Prime members to test up to six apparel items for a week before committing to a purchase. The program will officially terminate on January 31, 2025, according to the company’s website.

An Amazon spokesperson explained the decision, citing customer feedback that indicated a preference for the broader selection and faster delivery of Amazon’s main clothing and accessories offerings. They also highlighted the growing popularity of Amazon’s AI-powered features like virtual try-ons, personalized size recommendations, and enhanced size charts, which have made the need for “Try Before You Buy” less relevant.

The program had similarities to personal styling services like Stitch Fix but lacked the personalized touch, instead allowing customers to select items directly from a wide inventory.

Despite the discontinuation of this service, Amazon assures customers that its broader apparel selection will still offer fast, free shipping and easy, free returns. This move reflects Amazon’s ongoing adaptation to customer preferences and advances in technology.
