Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez have officially settled their divorce, marking the end of their two-year marriage. According to documents filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on December 31, 2024, but signed back in September, the divorce will be finalized on February 20, 2025.
The couple, who rekindled their romance and tied the knot in Las Vegas on July 16, 2022, separated on April 26, 2024, citing “irreconcilable differences.” Lopez filed for divorce on the anniversary of their second wedding ceremony in Georgia. Despite not having a prenup, they reached an agreement through mediation with renowned Hollywood divorce attorney Laura Wasser.
While financial specifics remain private, reports suggest that both Affleck and Lopez will retain the assets they individually acquired during their marriage. Lopez, who starred in multiple films like Atlas, Unstoppable, and Shotgun Wedding, will keep earnings from her music, beauty, and alcohol ventures. Affleck will retain his stake in the production company Artists Equity, co-founded with Matt Damon.
The $60 million Los Angeles mansion they bought together in 2023 is currently on the market, with profits from the sale to be evenly split. Neither party will pay spousal support, and both will retain their personal belongings, including clothing and jewelry.
Lopez will officially revert to her maiden name, Jennifer Lynn Lopez. She will also assume responsibility for all debts incurred before and during the marriage while securing half of two City National Bank accounts.
Despite the official separation, the former couple has remained amicable. On January 5, 2025, Lopez visited Affleck’s home in Los Angeles, accompanied by her child, Emme, and was seen hugging Affleck’s son, Samuel. This visit, along with previous meetings at school events and Affleck’s office, has sparked speculation about their continued cordial relationship.
Lopez spent the holidays in Aspen, Colorado, sharing glimpses of her festive trip on social media, while Affleck celebrated with his ex-wife Jennifer Garner and their three children. The two Hollywood stars seem focused on maintaining peace and respect post-divorce, closing the chapter on their storied romance with grace.
