“Breaking Barriers: RSS Chief’s Stand on Reservations and Unity”

RSS Chief Bhagwat’s Talk of Uniformity is an Attack on India’s Unity in Diversity

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat, speaking at an event in Nagpur, emphasized the persistence of discrimination in Indian society and advocated for the continuation of reservations until inequality is eradicated. He asserted that reservations are a necessary remedy to address historical inequalities and pledged support for constitutional reservations.

Bhagwat stressed that reservations go beyond achieving financial or political equality; they are about granting respect and dignity to marginalized communities. He compared the 2000 years of discrimination faced by certain sections of society to the idea that those who didn’t experience discrimination should be willing to accept some inconvenience for 200 more years.

Intriguingly, Bhagwat also touched on the concept of “Akhand Bharat” or an undivided India, suggesting it could become a reality in the future. He argued that conditions are evolving, and individuals who separated from India in 1947 are reevaluating their decision, recognizing the shared cultural identity of India.

Regarding the controversy surrounding the hoisting of the national flag at RSS headquarters, Bhagwat clarified that the RSS has always honored the flag and hoisted it on important national days. He recounted a historical incident involving Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and an RSS-affiliated youth who played a role in the flag’s hoisting.

In summary, Bhagwat’s remarks underscore the RSS’s support for reservations as a means to address discrimination and promote equality, while also hinting at a vision of a united India in the future.
