Breaking News: Overnight Rain Alleviates Forest Fire Danger! Stay Informed and Protected!

New fire located just south of Hearst

According to the latest update on forest fires in the region, the forest fire danger rating has decreased in certain areas due to overnight rain. However, there is a new fire located just south of Hearst, measuring 0.7 hectares, which is currently being held under control. Meanwhile, two out of three fires between Cochrane and Iroquois Falls have not shown any growth but are still not fully under control. If necessary, air attacks will be conducted over the weekend to address these fires.

The reduction in the hazard rating is attributed to the rainfall that occurred in some areas overnight, such as near Timmins. However, as one expands outward from these specific locations, the hazard rating increases again, reaching high to extreme levels in most areas. This indicates the scattered nature of the precipitation that was observed during the night.

The information provided by Shayne McCool, a fire information officer from the Ministry of Natural Resources & Forestry (MNRF), highlights the ongoing efforts to manage and mitigate forest fires in the region. The rain has offered some respite, but the potential for high fire hazards remains a concern in many areas.
