BYJU’S Forms Advisory Council with Prominent Industry Leaders

BYJU’S, the edtech major, has formed an advisory council and appointed TV Mohandas Pai and Rajnish Kumar as its council members. TV Mohandas Pai is a former CFO and board member of Infosys, as well as the co-founder of private equity fund Aarin Capital. He has been an early investor in BYJU’S. Rajnish Kumar is currently heading fintech unicorn BharatPe. The council’s role will be to mentor and advise the BYJU’S team, including CEO Byju Raveendran.

In response to the appointment, TV Mohandas Pai expressed confidence in BYJU’S and its founders. He praised their entrepreneurial skills and recognized their achievement of building the largest edtech company globally. He also mentioned his intention to advise the company on matters of corporate governance and financial reporting.

Rajnish Kumar stated that the appointments would guide BYJU’S in the right direction. He emphasized his discussions with Byju and Divya, which convinced him of their sincere efforts to correct the company’s governance structure. Kumar believes that with the support of experienced advisors, BYJU’S will continue to contribute to the field of education.

BYJU’S has faced scrutiny due to a delay in FY22, controversies related to mis-selling courses, and corporate governance issues. Recent resignations from the board have further highlighted the company’s challenges. Additionally, there have been reports of the appointment of Arjun Mohan, former CEO of upGrad, as the head of BYJU’S international initiatives.
