Cardi B revealed on Thursday that she is expecting her third child, sharing photos on social media of herself in a flowing red gown that showcased her baby bump. The announcement came just hours after the 31-year-old rapper filed for divorce from her estranged husband, Offset of Migos.
A representative for Cardi B confirmed to the Associated Press that the divorce filing is amicable and not based on any one incident. “This has been a long time coming,” the representative stated. According to Entertainment Tonight, Cardi filed for divorce on Wednesday.
In her social media post, Cardi B, whose real name is Belcalis Marlenis Cephus, expressed gratitude to her unborn child for helping her through a challenging period. “It’s so much easier taking life’s twists, turns, and tests lying down, but you, your brother, and your sister have shown me why it’s worth it to push through!”
“With every ending comes a new beginning! I am so grateful to have shared this season with you. You have brought me more love, more life, and most of all, renewed my power,” she added in the caption.
Cardi B and Offset, who married in 2017, share two children together. Offset, whose real name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus, has three other children from previous relationships, as reported by Entertainment Tonight.
In a December Instagram live session, Cardi B mentioned that she had been single “for a minute now.” The couple’s relationship has had several ups and downs, with Cardi filing for divorce twice previously. Speculation about their relationship status arose late last year when both rappers unfollowed each other on Instagram, according to ET.
