India’s 75th Republic Day: A Grand Celebration of Democracy
The Republic Day Parade in India, celebrating the 75th Republic Day, is set to focus on the themes of ‘Viksit Bharat’ and ‘Bharat: Loktantra Ki Matruka.’ President Droupadi Murmu will lead the festivities at Kartavya Path, Delhi, with French President Emmanuel Macron as the chief guest. The parade, lasting 90 minutes, features 13,000 special guests and highlights India’s cultural diversity and military strength.
A noteworthy inclusion is an all-women tri-service contingent, showcasing “Nari Shakti,” or women empowerment, with women pilots participating in the flypast. The Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) contingents and Delhi Police will exclusively consist of female personnel. The parade begins with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the National War Memorial.
The French armed forces will also participate, with a band and marching contingent led by Captain Khourda. The Indian Army’s 61 Cavalry, the world’s only active Horsed Cavalry Regiment, will lead the mechanized column. The Indian Navy and Air Force contingents, as well as displays from the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO), will emphasize women’s contributions in various dimensions of defense.
This Republic Day Parade uniquely combines military prowess, cultural diversity, and a focus on women’s empowerment, making it a significant and inclusive event.
