Dodger Stadium Faces Flooding After Hurricane: Resilience Amidst Adversity

Images of flooded Dodgers Stadium stun LA fans

In the aftermath of Hurricane Hilary, Dodger Stadium, a prominent landmark in Los Angeles, faced significant damage. The stadium, home to the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team, along with its parking lot, was severely flooded due to the effects of the storm. The flooding garnered attention as images of the submerged ballpark and the surrounding area circulated widely on social media. The stadium, situated in the Chavez Ravine of Elysian Park, experienced record-breaking rainfall of 2.3 inches, according to UCLA climate scientist Daniel Swain. Although the hurricane had weakened to a tropical storm when it hit Los Angeles, it caused substantial destruction.

In addition to the flooding, a 5.1-magnitude earthquake originated northwest of Dodger Stadium in Ojai. Despite the adverse weather conditions, the Los Angeles Dodgers managed to win both games of a last-minute doubleheader against the Miami Marlins. The team’s next home game is scheduled for August 28 against the Arizona Diamondbacks, with preceding away games against the Cleveland Guardians and Boston Red Sox. Notably, the popular K-pop girl group BLACKPINK is set to hold a concert at Dodger Stadium on August 26.
