Elon Musk appeared at the White House on his last day as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) under President Trump—with a black eye. During the live-streamed Oval Office farewell, viewers quickly noticed the bruise, sparking online buzz. When asked, Musk joked, “I wasn’t in France,” referring to recent headlines about French President Macron. Then he shared the real reason: “I was horsing around with little X. I told him, ‘Punch me in the face,’ and he did.” Trump laughed, “That was X?” Musk replied, “Yeah. X could do it, if you knew X.” Despite the bruise, Musk stayed focused, saying, “This is not the end of DOGE—only the beginning.” Musk saved $175 billion during his 130-day tenure through asset sales, contract cuts, and fraud control—about $1,087 saved per taxpayer. He’ll now return to his businesses but remains a Trump ally and DOGE adviser. The White House hasn’t commented yet.
