Utterly insane’: Musk slams US Senate draft of Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill as destructive – Firstpost
Elon Musk is back in the political spotlight—and he’s not holding back.
Just weeks after appearing to make peace with former President Donald Trump, Musk has reignited tensions by strongly criticizing a key domestic policy bill currently being pushed by Senate Republicans. In a Saturday post on X (formerly Twitter), Musk called the bill “utterly insane and destructive,” warning that it could wipe out millions of American jobs and harm the country’s future.
What’s in the Bill?
The controversial bill—nearly 1,000 pages long—was unveiled early Saturday morning. It’s designed to push through Trump’s policy agenda and includes:
- Major tax cuts
- Deep reductions to Medicaid and food assistance programs
- Increased spending on the military and immigration enforcement
To win over skeptical Republican senators, the latest version also adds funding for rural hospitals that rely heavily on Medicaid. The GOP hopes to pass the bill through the Senate and House before Trump’s July 4 deadline.
Musk’s Main Concern
Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, had kept a low profile after a heated feud with Trump earlier this month. That clash was sparked by this very bill. Musk previously warned that the legislation would explode the national debt and undo the cost-saving efforts made by a federal agency he once led—The Department of Government Efficiency.
Calling it a “disgusting abomination,” Musk warned that the bill could lead to national bankruptcy.
A Feud Gone Personal
The disagreement between Musk and Trump wasn’t just about policy—it quickly turned personal. Musk hinted that Trump’s name might appear in documents related to Jeffrey Epstein, the disgraced financier. Trump, in return, accused Musk of acting “crazy” due to alleged drug use.
Though Musk later expressed regret for his posts and said he “went too far,” the latest comments show that any truce between the two may be short-lived.
What Happens Next?
It’s unclear how much sway Musk still has in Washington. His influence may have waned as he stepped back from his government role to focus on his struggling businesses. But his harsh words could add pressure on lawmakers—and may further damage his already rocky relationship with Trump.
As of now, Trump is still determined to push the bill forward. But with big names like Musk publicly opposing it, the political drama is far from over.
