Honda recalls select Accords and HR-Vs over missing piece in seat belt pretensioners | Fox 59
Honda has announced a recall affecting over 300,000 2023 and 2024 HR-Vs and Accords due to a seat belt issue. The seat belt pretensioner lacks a rivet crucial for proper passenger restraint during a crash, as reported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on November 21. The omission occurred during assembly, prompting a free inspection and fix by dealers beginning January 8. The NHTSA highlights non-compliance with safety standards related to occupant crash protection and seat belt assemblies.
No injuries have been reported, and Honda urges affected vehicle owners to contact them or the NHTSA for further information. This recall follows Honda’s recent recall of nearly 250,000 Odysseys, Pilots, Acuras, and Ridgelines due to a potential bearing failure that could lead to engine stalls and crashes. Additionally, a previous recall involving over a million vehicles was issued due to a rearview camera problem earlier in the summer. These recurring recalls underscore the importance of addressing safety issues promptly and transparently within the automotive industry.
