Jasprit Bumrah is preparing to bowl.
Jasprit Bumrah, the Indian cricket team’s pace spearhead, achieved the top spot in the ICC Men’s Test Bowler rankings, surpassing Ravichandran Ashwin after a remarkable performance in the second Test against England in Vizag. This marks Bumrah’s first time reaching the pinnacle, despite previously securing five 10-wicket hauls in his career. Notably, two of these hauls occurred in 2024, showcasing his consistent excellence. Bumrah’s achievement places him as the fourth Indian bowler to top the rankings, joining the likes of Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and Bishan Bedi.
In his initial response to this feat, Bumrah shared a cryptic message on Instagram, juxtaposing ‘The Support’ versus ‘The Congratulations,’ hinting at possibly mixed sentiments from supporters and critics. Meanwhile, in other cricket rankings, Yashasvi Jaiswal’s stellar performance in the second Test against England propelled him 37 places up to the 29th spot in the Test batting rankings. Additionally, England’s Ben Stokes climbed to the fourth position in the all-rounder rankings, and India’s Axar Patel secured the fifth spot following the Vizag Test.
