Venice, Italy — June 28, 2025
Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez just pulled off one of the most extravagant — and secretive — weddings of the year. After three days of stylish celebrations, the couple capped off their Venetian wedding weekend with a grand finale at the historic Arsenale shipyard on Saturday evening.
The Amazon founder and former journalist were seen cruising through Venice’s canals by boat, with paparazzi and reporters following close behind. Lauren glowed in a pink Atelier Versace gown, while Jeff looked sharp in a sleek black suit.
A Private Yet Starry Affair
The actual wedding ceremony took place on Friday on San Giorgio Maggiore, a stunning, secluded island in Venice known for its Renaissance architecture. Though the event was tightly guarded, the guest list was packed with A-listers — think Oprah, Bill Gates, Kim Kardashian, Usher, Karlie Kloss, and even Tom Brady.
Inside the events, guests appeared to follow a strict no-phones rule, keeping details under wraps. Still, fashion insiders got a sneak peek when Vogue dropped a digital cover featuring Sanchez’s custom Dolce & Gabbana wedding gown — a high-necked lace design with 180 silk-covered buttons, reportedly 18 months in the making.
She changed outfits twice more that night, switching into a sweetheart-neck gown inspired by the film Gilda, and then a crystal-covered cocktail dress by Oscar de la Renta sparkling with 175,000 crystals.
Star Power and Designer Looks
Throughout the weekend, celebrity guests arrived decked out in high-end fashion. From Kim and Khloe Kardashian in vintage designer looks to Oprah in an elegant pink mermaid dress, the celebration doubled as a luxury fashion runway.
Kylie Jenner wore a powder blue lace-up corset gown, and even some guests embraced a fun pajama-style theme for the final night. Italian media reported that Matteo Bocelli, son of famed tenor Andrea Bocelli, serenaded the couple with Elvis Presley’s “Can’t Help Falling in Love.”
A Wedding Fit for the Spotlight
Though the wedding appeared to be ceremonial — Venice officials confirmed there was no legal paperwork filed — Jeff was seen sporting a wedding band, and Sanchez updated her Instagram handle to Lauren Sanchez Bezos shortly after the event.
Sanchez kicked off the festivities in style too — wearing a tailored white Dior skirt suit, Jimmy Choo heels, and an Hermès Kelly bag as she boarded a water taxi to the ceremony.
Protests and Privacy
Despite the glamour, not everyone in Venice was thrilled. Environmental and local groups protested the impact of the ultra-wealthy on the city, even staging demonstrations and displaying banners like “If you can rent Venice for your wedding, you can pay more tax.” Some locations were reportedly switched last-minute for security reasons.
But Venice tourism officials estimate that the wedding weekend may have brought in nearly 68% of the city’s annual tourism revenue — in just three days.
