Former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and pop superstar Katy Perry were seen dining together in Montreal on Monday night, sparking some online buzz about their relationship status.
The pair spent about two hours enjoying a quiet meal at Le Violon, a popular fine-dining restaurant in the city. According to the restaurant’s communications consultant, Samantha Jin, the evening appeared relaxed and low-key. “They were chill, kept to themselves, and didn’t attract much attention,” she shared.
Despite social media speculation—fueled by photos and video first posted by TMZ—Jin made it clear there was no sign of romance. “No PDA, no cozy gestures. Just a good dinner,” she said.
Security was present, quietly watching from the bar as the two enjoyed a chef’s tasting menu that included tuna, beef tartare, lobster, asparagus, and lamb. Chef Danny Smiles personally greeted them, and the duo even visited the kitchen afterward to thank the staff—something Jin said was “genuinely appreciated.”
While neither Trudeau’s nor Perry’s teams have commented on the dinner, their appearance together is making headlines. Both are currently single: Perry recently split from actor Orlando Bloom, and Trudeau separated from his wife Sophie Grégoire in 2023.
Perry is currently touring in Canada, with shows in Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City, and Toronto. Trudeau, who stepped down as prime minister earlier this year after nearly a decade in office, is no stranger to the spotlight—or famous company. His late father, Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau, famously dated Hollywood stars like Barbra Streisand and Kim Cattrall during his time in office.
As for Katy Perry, she’s one of pop’s biggest names, with seven studio albums and five chart-topping hits from her Teenage Dream album—matching a record set by Michael Jackson. She remains a 13-time Grammy nominee and global icon in the music world.
So, was it a date or just dinner? For now, it looks like just two high-profile friends catching up over a great meal.
