Lil Nas X Arrested for Battery of a Police Officer
Lil Nas X will remain in custody through the weekend following his arrest early Thursday morning in Los Angeles. Police confirmed that the rapper, whose real name is Montero Hill, will not be released until he appears before a judge on Monday.
According to the LAPD, he was taken into custody after being spotted wandering the streets of Studio City in just underwear and white cowboy boots. Officials said he appeared “delirious” and at one point “charged at officers,” leading to his arrest on charges of resisting or obstructing police.
Before being booked, the 25-year-old artist was taken to a hospital for what authorities described as a possible overdose. He is currently being held at Valley Jail in Van Nuys. Reps for Lil Nas X have not yet commented, and police confirmed he has not been allowed visitors.
This troubling incident comes during a difficult year for the Grammy-winning star. In April, he revealed that he was suffering from partial facial paralysis. Just a month later, he had to cancel his performance at West Hollywood’s Outloud Pride Festival due to ongoing health issues. At the time, he told fans he needed to prioritize recovery, saying: “After my recent hospital visit, I – like all of you should – must prioritize my health and getting back to 100%.”
Lil Nas X, who released his Days Before Dreamboy EP in March, has faced both physical and mental health struggles in recent months. A source told The Hollywood Reporter that similar health concerns were behind his earlier festival cancellation.
For now, he will remain behind bars until his court appearance on Monday, when a judge will determine the next steps.
