Lizzo sued by former dancers alleging sexual harassment | The West Australian
Grammy-award-winning singer Lizzo is facing a lawsuit filed by three of her former dancers, Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez, who allege harassment and the creation of a hostile work environment. The complaint, filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, not only targets Lizzo but also her production company, Big Grrrl Big Touring, Inc., and the dance team captain, Shirlene Quigley.
According to the plaintiffs’ attorney, Ron Zambrano, the allegations include sexual, religious, and racial harassment, disability discrimination, assault, and false imprisonment. The dancers claim that Lizzo pressured them to participate in a nude photoshoot during her “Watch Out for the Big Grrrls” dance competition show on Amazon Prime, as well as attend nude performances and touch nude performers in Amsterdam’s Red Light District. They also accuse Lizzo of making negative comments about one dancer’s weight gain.
Additionally, the plaintiffs assert that BGBT management discriminated against Black members of the dance team in both pay and treatment. Shirlene Quigley is accused of preaching Christianity against premarital sex at the workplace, oversharing her sexual habits, and broadcasting a dancer’s virginity.
Two of the dancers say they were fired, and one resigned due to the alleged workplace climate. The lawsuit contrasts with Lizzo’s public image as a body-positive activist promoting self-love through her upbeat pop music.
As of now, Lizzo, BGBT, and Quigley have not responded to ABC News’ requests for comment on the matter.
