Jonathan Majors Dropped By Marvel After Split Guilty Verdict in Assault Trial
Jonathan Majors, a Marvel actor known for playing Kang, has been found guilty of assaulting his ex-girlfriend, British choreographer Grace Jabbari, during a New York trial. The incident occurred in a car when Jabbari saw a text message on Majors’ phone, leading to a physical altercation. Majors, 34, faces potential jail time and has been dropped from upcoming Marvel projects. The jury convicted him on charges of assault and harassment but acquitted on aggravated harassment and assault with intent to cause harm.
The prosecution portrayed Majors’ actions as part of a pattern of controlling behavior, citing voice recordings and texts. Majors, who did not testify, had countersued Jabbari, alleging she was the aggressor. Sentencing is set for February, accompanied by a new protection order. Despite Majors expressing gratitude for the jury’s verdict, his legal team emphasized their satisfaction that he was not found to have intended to cause physical harm. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg highlighted the prevalence of psychological and emotional abuse in intimate partner violence cases. The verdict has led to Marvel delaying film releases featuring Majors.
