Matthew Perry Remembered: Ex-Fiancée Molly Hurwitz’s Posthumous Tribute
In an emotional tribute, Molly Hurwitz, who once stood as Matthew Perry’s fiancée from 2018 to 2021, honors the late actor, acknowledging the profound influence he had on her life.
Taking to Instagram on Monday, Hurwitz shared her heartfelt thoughts about the “Friends” luminary. She began her post with, “He would love that the world is talking about how talented he was,” underscoring Perry’s remarkable abilities. “And he truly possessed immense talent,” she continued.
Sadly, Perry passed away at the age of 54 in his Los Angeles abode on a fateful Saturday.
In her tribute, Hurwitz, who also served as Perry’s literary manager and became the recipient of his proposal in November 2020, reminisced about watching “Friends” with him in anticipation of the cast’s reunion special in 2021.
According to Hurwitz, Perry’s reaction to his past portrayal of Chandler Bing on the show was an enthusiastic, “F**k, I was so good!” See what I did there?”
The couple frequently revisited and dissected scenes from the iconic sitcom. Hurwitz mused, “We rewound and studied scenes. Our shared respect and appreciation for humor served as a profound bond. Witnessing him rediscover his brilliance felt nothing short of magical.”
She also delved into the challenges they encountered during their time together, acknowledging, “But I obviously knew that man in a very different way, too.”
“While my love for him exceeded my comprehension, he was a complex individual who introduced me to a depth of pain I had never known,” Hurwitz revealed. “In my adult life, no one has left a more indelible mark on me than Matthew Langford Perry. I am profoundly grateful for the lessons I gained from our relationship.”
Hurwitz also made reference to Al-Anon, a support network for the loved ones of those battling addiction. Perry had been open about his struggles with substance abuse and was commended for his efforts to assist others grappling with addiction.
In a poignant conclusion, she expressed her relief at Perry finding peace, ending with, “Sincerely, Moll-o-Rama (fication).”
Perry and Hurwitz decided to part ways and call off their engagement in June 2021. In a statement at the time, Perry remarked, “Sometimes things just don’t align, and this is one of those times. I wish Molly the very best.”
The circumstances surrounding Perry’s passing remain under investigation by the Los Angeles Medical Examiner.
