On Occasion of the Mother’s Day

On Occasion of the Mother's DayThe Poet:Virender Mattoo

Happy Mothers Day ….MumyJi
In a world of love, there stood a queen, With a heart so pure, so strong, so keen. Mumyji, our mother, selfless and kind,
A guiding light, forever in our mind.
She sold her ornaments, her treasures of gold,
To ensure our dreams would never be sold.
With every sacrifice, her love did show, For our education, she let her treasures go.
In my gravest illness, her tears did flow, Her fear and anguish, she couldn’t let it show.
She stood by my side, with unwavering grace,
Ready to give her life, to bring a smile to our face.

When lost and astray, with my sister by my side,
She searched, she prayed, with no place to hide.
She’d give her own life, without a second thought,
To guide us home, the battles she fought.
Through sleepless nights, by our beds she’d stay,
Nursing us back, keeping our pain at bay.
She worked and she toiled, without any rest,
Feeding us, nurturing us, she gave us her best.
A teacher, a mentor, she showed us the way,
Instilling in us values, day after day. Ramayan and Mahabharat, she would recite,
Setting high standards, her love shining bright.
With equal attention, she cared for us all,
Her love for her children, never did fall. Her weakness for kids, her heart would defend,
For her love for us, she’d fight till the end.
Her culinary skills, a work of art,
Each dish she prepared, a taste of the heart.
Monji Syun, Gogji Syun, flavors divine, Yakhini and Rogan Josh, a taste so fine.
Kharbuz Syun, Rajma Gogij, pure delight, Tcher Chaman, a dish that would excite. Nadir Yekhin, Palak Nadir, flavors to savor,
Nadir Adrak Chettin, a taste to forever favour.
Mumiji’s discerning taste for milk,
Only Sharma Ji’s vendor, of quality silk. For vegetables, she’d travel afar,
Sabzi Mandi, her trusted bazaar.
With a keen eye, she’d choose with care, No compromise on quality, beyond compare.
Expensive items, her shopping delight, Seeking the best, both day and night.
With grace and warmth, guests she’d receive,
Never a raised eyebrow, always believe. Her love for siblings, deep and profound, Though not openly shown, it would astound.

In the early morning light, at the break of day,
Mother would rise, with love as her way. At 5 am, she’d begin her chore,
Cooking for us, preparing us for more.

With dedication unmatched, she’d go to work,
Traveling long distances, no duty would shirk.
In the evening, she’d return, weary but strong,
Cooking, cleaning, making sure nothing went wrong.
Late into the night, she’d stay awake, Taking care of chores, for her children’s sake.
But amidst her duties, she found her delight,
Radio cyclone, playing songs through the night.
Movies were her escape, a joy she’d pursue,
With her sisters, in horse carts they flew. A foodie at heart, she loved patisa’s sweet,
Indulging her taste buds, a moment so fleet.
Her faith in Rama, a beacon so bright, Believing in saints, like the revered Moni Baba’s light.
Her voice, a melody, even in her twilight years,
Singing beautifully, dispelling all fears.
Oh, Mother dear, your journey so grand, Filled with sacrifice, with love hand in hand.
Your strength, your devotion, forever we’ll hold,
In our hearts, your legacy, stories untold.
After Dediji’s departure, her heart lost its glow,
Never the same, her spirit kept low.
Her strength lay in the small quarrels they had,
Like a tonic, those moments made her glad.
Yet, what she deserved, she did not receive,
From her children and siblings, what we perceive.
Her sacrifices, her selflessness, they couldn’t see,
Oh, Mother dear, we failed you, we plea.

But your love, your legacy, forever remains,
In our hearts, your presence forever sustains.
We’ll strive to make amends, to honor your name,
To cherish your spirit, your eternal flame.
Oh, Mother dear, in Vaikuntha you reside, May eternal happiness forever be your guide.
We couldn’t repay you, for all that you’ve done,
But your love and sacrifices, we’ll forever hold as one.

Forgive us, dear Mom, for causing you pain,
For our struggles and worries, we were to blame.
But know that your love, it always shone through,
In our hearts, your presence forever we’ll pursue.

Mumyji, our angel, with love and devotion,
You’ve left an indelible mark, an eternal notion.
In our memories, you’ll forever remain,
Guiding light, source of strength, our eternal flame.
