The Powerball jackpot has reached an astounding $875 million for the upcoming Saturday drawing. This increase in the prize money comes after no winning ticket was sold in the previous drawing, which had a jackpot of $750 million. The winning numbers for the latest drawing were 23, 35, 45, 66, 67, and the red Powerball number was 20.
The upcoming jackpot is now the third largest in the history of the Powerball game. Participants in the drawing have the option to choose between receiving the $875 million prize in yearly installments or a one-time lump sum payment of $441.9 million, before taxes.
The Powerball game is known for its incredibly low odds of winning, with the chances of winning the jackpot standing at 1 in 292.2 million. These odds are deliberately set to create larger prizes that attract more players. The largest Powerball jackpot to date was a staggering $2.04 billion, won in November of the previous year.
The most recent Powerball jackpot winner was crowned on April 19, receiving a prize of nearly $253 million. However, since then, there have been no winners for the grand prize in the last 36 consecutive drawings.
