Actress Samantha Weinstein, known for her role in the 2013 remake of “Carrie,” has passed away at the age of 28 after battling ovarian cancer. Weinstein’s family announced her death on her Instagram page, stating that she died surrounded by loved ones at Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto. They described her as someone who had traveled the world, lent her voice to various animated characters, made music, and possessed a profound understanding of life. They also expressed that she was embarking on her next adventure.
Weinstein’s colleagues and friends paid tribute to her, with her co-star from the Netflix series “Alias Grace” describing her as a bright light and expressing gratitude for knowing her. In October 2022, Weinstein married her husband Michael Knutson, and she referred to it as the best day of her life. She openly shared her experiences with cancer, having undergone emergency surgery to remove a cyst in her ovary and later revealing her battle with a rare form of ovarian cancer. Weinstein believed in the importance of representation in the media and hoped that her journey would inspire others facing similar challenges.
Beyond her acting career, Weinstein was involved in voice acting, reading audiobooks, and had roles in animated series like “D.N.
