The Central Registrar of Cooperative Societies (CRCS)-Sahara Refund Portal was launched by Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, in New Delhi. This initiative was a result of a Supreme Court judgment that directed the transfer of Rs. 5000 Crores from the “Sahara-SEBI Refund Account” to CRCS for disbursing dues to genuine depositors of the Sahara Group of Cooperative Societies. Depositors who have outstanding receipts from specific cooperative societies within Sahara Group and have deposited their money before certain cut-off dates are eligible to claim through the CRCS Sahara refund portal.
To apply on the portal, depositors need to provide their membership number, deposit account number, mobile number linked with Aadhaar, and other required documents such as the Certificate of Deposit/Passbook and PAN Card (if the claim amount is Rs. 50,000/- and above). The application process involves registering as a depositor, providing personal details, entering claim details, uploading the claim form and PAN card, and receiving a claim request number for future reference.
Once the claim is submitted, Sahara Society will verify and process it within 30 days, followed by processing by authorized verifiers and CRCS within the next 15 days. Refunds will be disbursed within 45 days after filing the online claims, subject to fund availability and verification. Depositors will receive status updates through SMS or the portal.
