Lucas Jackson/Reuters/FileSean “Diddy” Combs may soon face fresh allegations as over 100 individuals prepare to file civil suits against the media mogul. The announcement came during a press conference on Tuesday, with Houston-based attorney Tony Buzbee revealing that his firm, along with the AVA Law Group, has been retained by at least 120 men and women. These individuals contacted the firms, claiming to have been victimized by Combs and others.
Buzbee explained that his firm will be pursuing cases in civil court, with many of the allegations centering around serious accusations. These include violent sexual assault, rape, sexual abuse, false imprisonment, and the dissemination of video recordings. Some of the allegations are also linked to sexual misconduct involving minors. Buzbee stated that the victims claimed these incidents occurred in Los Angeles, New York, and Miami, often at parties or music industry-related events.
Buzbee noted that approximately 50% of the 120 people who have retained his firm are men, while the other half are women. Additionally, 25 of the alleged victims were minors at the time of the incidents. The attorney emphasized that these claims are being carefully vetted, and his firm is actively collecting evidence to support the cases.
While Buzbee’s firm prepares to file these cases within the next 30 days, it was made clear that these will not be part of a class-action lawsuit. Instead, each case will be filed individually across different states. Buzbee also mentioned that in some instances, Combs will not be the only defendant, as other individuals and entities may be named based on the evidence gathered.
The legal trouble for Combs has been mounting in recent months. Since November, the music mogul has been hit with 12 civil suits, 11 of which accuse him of sexual assault. While Combs has settled one of these claims, he has yet to respond to many of the other lawsuits that remain active. These allegations come on top of the federal charges he already faces, including sex trafficking. Earlier this month, Combs was indicted on these charges but has pleaded not guilty. He is currently incarcerated at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York, awaiting trial on three criminal counts, including sex trafficking and racketeering.
Erica Wolff, one of Combs’ attorneys, addressed the new wave of allegations during a statement on Tuesday. She emphasized that Combs denies any wrongdoing and looks forward to proving his innocence in court. Wolff criticized the media circus surrounding the case and expressed confidence that the truth would emerge based on evidence rather than speculation.
Buzbee also mentioned that more than half of the victims reported the alleged conduct to authorities or sought medical attention. His firm is currently working to obtain police and hospital records that will be crucial to building the cases against Combs and other potential defendants. The firm plans to file these lawsuits within the next month, with additional evidence being collected as the process moves forward.
Combs has been a prominent figure in the entertainment industry for decades, but these recent allegations have cast a shadow over his career. With over 100 accusers coming forward, the upcoming legal battles could potentially result in significant consequences for the music icon. However, Combs’ legal team remains firm in their stance that the claims are unfounded and that their client will be vindicated in court.
The investigation into Combs’ activities is ongoing, with authorities continuing to search for more information. Earlier this year, Combs’ residences in Los Angeles and Miami were searched by the Department of Homeland Security as part of a broader investigation into his alleged involvement in criminal activities. As the case unfolds, both the legal system and the public will be closely watching to see how this high-profile situation develops.
While Combs awaits trial, his legal team is working to appeal his detention, seeking his release from jail as the court proceedings move forward. For now, however, he remains behind bars at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. As more information comes to light, the allegations against Combs could have far-reaching implications for his personal and professional life.
