Selena Gomez on Her Future Kids
Selena Gomez already has a special movie list ready for her future children — and at the top are Disney Pixar’s Inside Out films.
During the Sept. 9 episode of the Good Hang with Amy Poehler podcast, the 33-year-old singer and actress opened up about how deeply the movies touched her when she watched them with her younger sister, Gracie, 12.
“I watched it with my sister, and I completely sobbed,” Gomez admitted. “It is so factual. I almost feel like it should have been required homework in school.”
The Only Murders in the Building star said both she and Gracie cried while watching the original Inside Out (2015), which follows Riley, an 11-year-old navigating big emotions like Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust, and Sadness after moving to a new city.
Gomez praised the films for their honest take on growing up, emotions, and mental health. She even called them “incredible,” adding with a smile: “I’m gonna make my children watch it. They don’t exist yet, but I can’t wait.”
Podcast host Amy Poehler, who voices Joy in the franchise, pointed out how the sequel Inside Out 2 (2024) introduces the emotion of anxiety — something people experience at every age. “You’re either feeling it in real time as a young person, or remembering it in your thirties, forties, fifties or above,” Poehler explained.
Gomez, who got engaged to music producer Benny Blanco in December 2024, has spoken before about her excitement to become a mom. On a March episode of the Jay Shetty Podcast, she said: “I love children. I love making them laugh; they’re just so sweet. When that day comes, I’m so excited for it.”
For now, she’s keeping her future family in mind — starting with movies that teach the importance of feelings, resilience, and growing up.
