Suzuki Motors recently offered a sneak peek at the next generation of its beloved Swift hatchback during the 2023 Japanese Mobility Show. This iconic model, which initially graced the Indian market in 2005, is now gearing up for its fourth-generation launch. While the core essence of the car remains intact, it has received several enhancements. Notable updates include fresh headlamps and daytime running lights (DRLs), a redesigned front grille featuring a more rugged mesh pattern, new fog lamps, and a sportier front bumper. The overall design, stance, and curves maintain their familiar charm, with the showcased model sporting a striking blue exterior and a blacked-out roof.

Although the car’s rear remains hidden from view, expectations are that it will retain its signature taillights. Inside, the new Swift boasts a brand-new cabin equipped with a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a modern digital driver display, and more.

There are also rumblings about potential features like an electric sunroof, ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera, and wireless charging, although Maruti has yet to confirm these additions.

As for its debut in India, the fourth-generation Swift is projected to hit the Indian market in 2024, catering to both domestic and international audiences. It will face stiff competition from established players like the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, Renault Triber, Citroen C3, Tata Punch, and Hyundai Exter. Pricing details for the new Swift have not been officially disclosed.

About the Japan Mobility Show:

The biennial show, which was skipped in 2021 due to the pandemic, assumes critical significance in the context of the domestic auto industry. Japan’s automotive sector is navigating challenges associated with high input costs and a downturn in sales, especially in China, where Japanese automakers like Nissan and Mitsubishi have faced unique challenges compared to non-Chinese competitors.
