Taylor Swift Announces New Album The Life of a Showgirl on Travis Kelce’s Podcast

Taylor Swift Announces New Album The Life of a Showgirl with Help from Travis and Jason Kelce

Taylor Swift has officially revealed the title of her highly anticipated 12th studio album — The Life of a Showgirl. The big news came in a surprise video clip from Travis and Jason Kelce’s New Heights podcast, shared on Instagram at exactly 12:12 a.m. ET on August 12 — a cheeky nod to it being her 12th album.

In the clip, Swift holds up a mint-green record case with her initials “T.S.” on it, announcing, “This is my brand-new album, The Life of a Showgirl.” The vinyl cover is intentionally blurred, and even her official website shows only a locked, hazy orange-and-green image. Fans can already preorder vinyl, cassette, and CD versions, but there’s still no official release date — only a note that preorders ship October 13.

Clues, Hints, and Fan Theories

While Swift hasn’t shared the tracklist, she’s already teasing fans with a clever rollout. Billboards in Nashville and New York point to a Spotify playlist she curated called “And, baby, that’s show business for you.” It features 22 songs produced by Max Martin and Shellback — the hitmakers behind her albums Red, 1989, and Reputation. Many believe this hints at a reunion with the duo for the new project.

The excitement doesn’t stop there. The Empire State Building glowed orange to mark the announcement, and searching “Taylor Swift” on Google now triggers orange confetti and a fiery heart icon. Swifties also noticed Taylor Nation posted 12 orange-themed photos of the singer with the caption, “Thinking about when she said, ‘See you next era…’” on August 11, fueling speculation.

Travis Kelce’s Big Tease

Adding to the buzz, Swift’s boyfriend Travis Kelce hinted she’d be a special guest on the New Heights podcast, which drops its new episode Wednesday. Fans quickly picked up on clues when he posted a photo in Swift merch against a glittery orange background.

A New Era After a Big Victory

The Life of a Showgirl marks Swift’s first major release since she won back ownership of her first six albums after a public battle over her master recordings. In 2019, she learned her masters had been sold to Scooter Braun without her consent, sparking her massive “Taylor’s Version” rerecording project. Since then, she has successfully reclaimed Fearless (2008), Speak Now (2010), Red (2012), and 1989 (2014).

While fans expected rerecordings of her debut album and Reputation next, it looks like Swift is stepping boldly into a brand-new chapter instead.
