- Jeff Dean, who was Google’s chief scientist, and three other colleagues have left Google to start a new company called Discovery Loop. This startup will use artificial intelligence to help scientists and engineers make discoveries faster.
- Discovery Loop wants to make scientific experiments and engineering work quicker by using AI to automate the process. Their goal is to help solve big problems by running many experiments at the same time.
- The startup is funded by well-known investors, including Radical Ventures, Khosla Ventures, Lightspeed, Kleiner Perkins, and Doerr Capital. Alphabet, Google’s parent company, is also a major investor and cloud partner.
- Jeff Dean is a famous computer scientist who helped build Google Search, Google News, Google Translate, and Google Ads. He also co-founded the Google Brain team, which made big advances in artificial intelligence.
- The leadership team at Discovery Loop includes Sanjay Ghemawat (a top computer scientist and longtime collaborator of Dean), Oriol Vinyals (an AI expert from Google DeepMind), and Quoc Le (a founding member of Google Brain).
