Toy Story 5 Set for Massive $160 Million Opening, Becoming 2026’s Biggest Box Office Hit

Toy Story 5’s Headed to $160M Biggest Opening of 2026

Disney and Pixar have another blockbuster on their hands. Toy Story 5 is expected to earn around $160 million during its opening weekend, making it the biggest movie launch of 2026 so far.

The animated sequel got off to a spectacular start, earning $71 million on its first day in theaters. That marks the second-highest opening day ever for an animated movie, trailing only The Incredibles 2, which earned $72.2 million on its first day in 2018.

Moviegoers are loving the film, giving it a strong A CinemaScore, a sign of excellent audience satisfaction. The movie is also performing well ahead of Toy Story 4, which opened with $120.9 million in 2019.

The film is directed by longtime Toy Story creative Andrew Stanton, with Kenna Harris serving as co-director.

Meanwhile, Steven Spielberg’s science-fiction film Disclosure Day is experiencing a sharp decline in its second weekend. The movie is expected to earn about $17 million, down nearly 69% from its $44 million opening weekend. By the end of the weekend, its domestic box office total should reach approximately $78 million.

Another major success story continues to be Obsession, released by Focus Features. Now in its sixth weekend, the film is expected to bring in around $14 million, pushing its domestic total to about $215 million. Worldwide earnings have already crossed $300 million, making it the highest-grossing movie in Focus Features history.

Among the new releases, Neon’s horror film Leviticus is projected to earn around $3 million during its debut weekend. Also opening is The Death of Robin Hood, starring Hugh Jackman, which is expected to collect about $2.5 million. Directed by Michael Sarnoski, known for Pig and A Quiet Place: Day One, the film explores the later years of the legendary Robin Hood.

With strong audience reactions and record-breaking numbers, Toy Story 5 is proving that the beloved franchise still has plenty of magic left.
