President Donald Trump landed in Malaysia on October 25, 2025, to begin a diplomatic trip to Asia.
His itinerary includes visits to Japan and South Korea, and a signing ceremony for a Thailand-Cambodia peace agreement.
Mid-flight, Trump announced a 10 percent tariff increase on Canadian goods. He blamed an anti-tariff ad run by Ontario’s provincial government in the United States. He said he will press for a broad trade deal when he meets Chinese leader Xi Jinping.
While refueling in Doha, Trump met Qatar’s emir for a brief discussion. He urged Hamas to return the bodies of deceased hostages being held in Gaza. He also spoke about Ukraine, saying he will not meet Russian President Vladimir Putin until talks can produce a deal.
