U.S. Citizen Killed by Israeli Settlers in the West Bank

US Citizen Beaten To Death By Israeli Settlers In West Bank While Visiting Family | World News – News18

July 12, 2025 — A tragic incident in the West Bank has left a 21-year-old U.S. citizen dead, sparking outrage and raising serious concerns about ongoing violence in the region.

Sayfollah Musallet, who was born in Florida and visiting family in the Palestinian village of Sinjil, was beaten to death by a group of Israeli settlers during a violent clash on Friday, according to local officials and family members. A U.S. Embassy spokesperson has confirmed his death.

The Israeli military acknowledged that a confrontation had taken place between Palestinians and Israelis and said the incident is under investigation.

Sadly, cases like these rarely lead to justice. Israeli authorities seldom prosecute settlers accused of violence against Palestinians, and convictions are even more uncommon.

This tragedy comes amid growing global criticism over how the U.S. handles allegations of crimes by Israeli citizens. Even Department of Justice attorneys have raised concerns about what they call a “glaring gap”—pointing out that suspected war crimes by Russia or Hamas receive more scrutiny than those involving Israel.

Tensions in the region have soared since the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, which killed around 1,200 people and led to hundreds being kidnapped. In response, Israel launched a relentless military campaign that has now killed more than 55,000 Palestinians—over half of them women and children—and wounded over 127,000.

Gaza’s healthcare and support systems are on the brink of collapse. International calls for restraint have done little to change the situation. Meanwhile, the U.S. continues to support Israel financially, recently committing $30 million to an Israeli-led program that restricts food access in Gaza—described by the United Nations as a “death trap.”

Efforts to broker a ceasefire have stalled, and the humanitarian crisis deepens every day.
