Unveiling the ‘Annoying Captain’: MS Dhoni’s Secret Request to CSK Teammates!

M S Dhoni in post match presentation ceremony on Tuesday

In the post-match presentation ceremony after Chennai Super Kings’ victory over Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2023 Qualifier 1, MS Dhoni, often hailed as one of the greatest captains in cricket, referred to himself as an “annoying captain.” Dhoni revealed a new aspect of his captaincy style, explaining how frequently he changes field positions, which can be frustrating for fielders. However, he made a specific request to his teammates, especially the fielders, as the team heads into the final of the tournament.

Dhoni mentioned that he wants his players to keep an eye on him, emphasizing that there will be no visible reaction from him if they drop a catch. He explained that field placements are adjusted based on the pitch conditions, and he can be demanding, often shifting fielders by a few feet. Despite this, he assured his teammates that he will maintain his composure in case of a missed opportunity, requesting them to simply observe his movements.

Chennai Super Kings have secured their place in the IPL 2023 final, which will take place in Ahmedabad on May 28. In the match against Gujarat Titans, CSK posted a competitive total of 172 runs. Although some experts did not consider it a “match-winning total,” the CSK bowlers excelled, with Deepak Chahar, Ravindra Jadeja, Maheesh Theekshana, and Matheesha Pathirana all taking two wickets each. Chahar, who had missed several matches due to injury, performed exceptionally well, while Jadeja was impressive, conceding only 18 runs in his four overs. Theekshana and Pathirana also made valuable contributions, helping dismiss Gujarat for 157 runs.
