Chinese President Xi Jinping and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un have agreed to deepen cooperation between their countries and work together to support regional and global peace following Xi’s recent visit to North Korea.

According to North Korea’s state news agency KCNA, Xi said the two leaders reached an “important consensus” after holding detailed discussions on issues affecting both nations. He noted that their talks reflected a shared commitment to strengthening the long-standing relationship between China and North Korea.

Xi visited North Korea from June 8 to June 9, marking his first trip to the country in seven years. In a message sent after returning home, he described the visit as a success and said it had opened a “new historical stage” in relations between the two countries.

The Chinese president stated that both sides exchanged in-depth views on key issues and agreed on several important areas of cooperation. He expressed his willingness to continue working closely with Kim based on the long-term interests of both nations.

During the visit, the two leaders agreed to expand cooperation in politics, trade, the economy, culture, agriculture, technology, and construction. They also pledged to strengthen strategic communication between their governments.

Chinese state media reported that both countries plan to take advantage of the full reopening of border crossings, as well as the resumption of international passenger train services and civil aviation flights. These developments are expected to boost economic and people-to-people exchanges.

Xi also said he hopes to meet Kim again in the future and continue efforts to strengthen bilateral relations while contributing to peace, stability, and development in the region.

As part of the visit, Xi and Kim paid tribute at Pyongyang’s Sino-Korean Friendship Tower, which honors Chinese soldiers who died during the Korean War. They also toured a political training school for party officials in the North Korean capital, Pyongyang.

The visit highlights the growing cooperation between China and North Korea at a time when both countries are seeking closer diplomatic and economic coordination.
