“PM Modi Targets Negativity and Corruption in Fiery Independence Day Speech”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his Independence Day address from the Red Fort in Delhi, criticized his opponents and detractors, labeling them as “full of negativity.” He remarked that some individuals “do not want to see India grow” and urged the public to recognize that a negative mindset is creating an imbalance in the country. He highlighted the damaging effects of nepotism and casteism in politics, emphasizing the need to eradicate these issues.

In a pointed reference to his political rivals, particularly the Congress party, the Prime Minister reiterated his stance against “dynastic politics,” a frequent target of criticism by his party, the BJP. He accused the Congress and its prominent family, the Gandhis, of prioritizing their interests over the nation’s well-being.

Modi also took a strong stance against corruption, declaring his intent to instill fear in those engaged in corrupt practices, aiming to end the exploitation of the common man. This follows his recent promise to continue a rigorous crackdown on corruption after the BJP secured a third consecutive term at the center, albeit falling short of an outright majority and relying on allied parties.

His remarks come after a contentious first Parliament session of his third term, marked by disputes between the government and the opposition on several issues, including the Waqf Bill, the rising cost of living, and the disqualification of wrestler Vinesh Phogat from the Paris Olympics. Additionally, the political crisis in Bangladesh has contributed to tensions.

The most significant clash, however, occurred over the Union Budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. The Congress accused the government of copying parts of the budget from its manifesto and alleged a bias in financial allocations, claiming that states governed by non-BJP parties were being neglected in favor of those led by BJP allies, such as Bihar and Andhra Pradesh.

The government, dismissing these claims, asserted that all states received fair attention. Sitharaman responded to the criticism by referencing budget speeches from previous Congress-led governments, challenging them to account for the exclusion of certain states in past budgets.
